Directions

Unfasten all straps and hook and loop. Position the heel against the back of the device, making sure it is seated firmly. Attach each of the straps, adjusting so that there is a comfortable tension holding the foot in place. Insert the toe wedge (wide portion facing the toes) under the ball of the foot to provide additional stretch, as needed. Place the ice pack in the freezer and then position from the ball of the foot and around the heel to provide cold therapy relief.

I finally found something that gives me the night-time support that I need for my plantar faciitis - that doesn't cut off circulation and doesn't let you fall out of the brace. There are 3 velcro straps that can be adjusted to your comfort AND there are locking straps on the top and middle straps to keep the velcro in place. Those are also adjustable. I only occasionally use the ice pack that come with it, if I've had a painful day. The ice pack is not so cold that it's uncomfortable, but it stays cold long enough to feel relief (usually beyond when I fall asleep). The one thing I will say is that it is a little bulky and it is sometimes a challenge to get your feet positioned comfortably. Back sleepers won't have this issue. As a side sleeper, I actually rest my other foot on the ridge of the splint to try to keep that one at 90 degrees. The splint is light enough that I can do this sleeping on either side. The front wedge that keeps your toes up isn't very noticable to me; my toes are already higher than they should be just standing. Walking with this splint takes some getting used to, but I've also never had a broken bone or a need for other splints, so I imagine it would be somewhat similar. I keep it on if I need to get up in the middle of the night and get around just fine. The skids on the bottom keep it from ruining the floor.

All around, a great product!

*I have pain in both feet, so I purchased 2 of the splints, so keep that in mind when I refer to the pair of them, since the listing is for one boot*

I have horrible plantar fasciitis foot pain in both feet from dis-use. I'm disabled and spend a lot of time in bed, so the plantar fasciitis is not from being on my feet, but more from my feet flexing the wrong way under the covers. These braces are as comfortable as wearing giant boots to bed can be. Part of my heel pain is where my heels touch the bed while lying down, and I don't feel that pressure in the boots.

One reason I purchased these was the "removable ice pack" feature, which is little more than water quilted into squares. DO NOT consider that a selling point -- it's very flimsy, doesn't cool to be helpful in refrigerator, and when frozen feels like you've put a literal ice tray under your feet. I have better luck shoving actual ice packs down there.

As others have said, the uppermost strap is rather snug. My calf circumference is 16" at the widest (higher than the boot strap, I think), and it was pretty snug fit until it stretched out a bit.

One caveat: you may want to invest in some sort of knee pillow or bolster. When I don't use one, my knees tend to bend backwards a bit, which is uncomfortable, and my feet or toes can fall asleep in painful ways. It doesn't help that I have cats who sleep on my legs, but I think I'd need the knee pillow anyway.

It's a little annoying that there's just one boot, and not a left and right boot -- it can be awkward snapping in the straps on the left boot, which end up on the outside of the leg.

All in all, these splits are worth it. I call them my moon boots. I can clomp 15 feet to the toilet in the night, but they're very awkward to walk in.

This splint worked the first time I used it...I couldn’t believe it! I have plantar fasciitis in my left foot, and prior to ordering and using the splint, I would have to massage my heel and foot for about 5 minutes before trying to take that first step of the day; otherwise, it was so painful. After using the splint the first night, I took off the splint, got up from bed and started walking; the heel pain was barely noticeable. I’m really pleased with this Brownmed splint.

The straps (both the liner and the nylon) keep my foot secure during the night. If I turn to rest on my side, I just bunch my blanket between my ankles for cushioning.

The splint is well made, very sturdy, and comfortable. (Note: “Made in USA”, according to the instructions included with the splint)
There are some “grippy” strips on the bottom so that I can make a trip to the bathroom during the night without having to take the splint off.
The liner is attached to the plastic shell with hook tape so it can be removed and hand-washed.
An extra piece of the hook tape is included, in case the one on the toe strap becomes worn (now that’s attention to detail).
The ice pack is a nice feature; not too cold but enough to keep my foot cool. As one reviewer commented, the ice pack is a little hard; however, with the warmth of my foot, it gets pliable quickly. (The ice pack will provide about “15 minutes of cold therapy relief”, according to the instructions.)
The toe wedge is also a nice feature (I actually add a folded sock to give extra lift).
I wear a 6-6.5 women’s shoe, and after reading another reviewer’s comments on sizing, decided to order a small, rather than a medium that’s recommended...the splint fits perfectly.

The velcro straps stop sticking after a few months

This worked fine for my plantar fascitis, for about four months, then the velcro straps kept coming undone. There are two additional bands with buckles, which I now use to keep the foot in place, but they're not as comfortable as the soft velcro straps. I would recommend that the manufacturer use better, stronger velcro on the straps. I'm going to have to sew new velcro onto the existing stuff to get it to stick again. Otherwise, the splint is comfortable, I have no problem sleeping with it. Also, if you want to get your foot at more of an angle and the wedge they provide isn't enough, I would stuff a folded sock between the wedge and the foot to add to the angle.
