My wife and I discovered this fantastic group on Pandora, where the first song we heard was "Demon Kitty Rag." Let's just say we were hooked right from the start! They are so unique and extremely talented. They are all wonderful vocalists and each of them can play a multitude of musical instruments. Why they are not a household name is a mystery, as I expected to see many more reviews on here. No two songs on this album are completely alike, although several songs maintain a wonderfully similar dark and playful cabaret and circus theme. Their ability to play/sing Nashville style music is fantastic. The song, "Wading In Deeper" is a truly beautiful piece that can evoke tears. They have fantastic harmony, and it's hard to imagine anyone NOT liking them.

As others have stated, you would be doing yourself a great favor to check out some of their live performances online. There is a YouTube video of them live in Hamburg Germany that is absolutely fantastic! These girls have tons of energy, are fun and funny, and if I could have them play at my next birthday I would be exceedingly happy! (Hey, I can dream!)

One area of frustration that has nothing to do with the content is that we had originally ordered the CD with the understanding that it was temporarily out of stock. We waited over a month, and still no CD, so we finally just ordered the MP3 version. From what I can tell, the CD is STILL not available, so I'm not sure what's up with that. I had contacted Amazon, and they said they had not yet received anymore CDs from their supplier. Very weird.

I love this album from the all-female English language band from Oslo, Norway! Katzenjammer = the cat's lament. IMHO, it's the band's best of their current 3 albums. I love every song on the album! The band members are talented and innovative, the sound is fresh and engaging. The band members swap-out multiple, varied, interesting instruments. I'd describe them as burlesque balkan goth (a new genre?!). I actually discovered the band when I was doing some research on Edgar Allan Poe and his wife, Virginia Clemm. Since one of the tracks on the album is Virginia Clemm, the band popped up in my web search. The tune is phenomenal; it's one of my favorites. Actually, the story in each of the songs is very compelling. I recommend this album :o) if you're not sure, check-out some of the videos from their live performances. They're very entertaining.

I was introduced to Katzenjammer via a video on youtube of them performing 'Demon Kitty Rag' live. It was an instant hit. The catchy and upbeat song remained stuck in my head until I finally broke down and bought the cd, a decision I do not regret. Katzenjammer is fun and bit crazy, the band seems to have something of a 'folk' music sound. Eccentric with their use of many, eclectic instruments (such as an accordion and banjo), the wide array of instruments add to the rather simple melodies. The songs are fun, they remind me a bit of swing-dancing, and hold something of a 'circus' atmosphere. The circus sound of Katzenjammer can be a bit much, and at times it does seem as if some songs would have benefited from a bit of restraint. However that is my only complaint to an otherwise spectacular CD. Some songs may have needed to be toned down a bit, but other songs and the CD overall shine from the wild and overblown sound and atmosphere that is distinctly Katzenjammer. I look forward to seeing where they go next.

I ran across this cd quite accidentally at a thrift store. The name and description sounded interesting, so I took it home to try it out. The music I heard from my speakers brought a smile to my face that never stopped until the end of the disk. Why would someone turn this unique and exuberant music in to a thrift store? I have since gotten my son, and several friends hooked on this group, and they in turn are spreading the good cheer of "Le Pop".
No way to make a comparison to anything else I know of, as they defy categorization, but just listen with an open mind and enjoy the fun and exceptional musicianship of these multi-talented ladies.

I will let the music stand for itself. Give it a listen, buy the album, and support this wonder of a band so that they can bring us many more hours of musical joy.

I really just can't say enough about the band. The performances are extremely tight, well orchestrated, and the vocals are perfect. The music is great on the surface for when you're doing something else, but also stands up to a dedicated listen.

I'm in love with these four because of their beauty that so clearly comes through in the music. Please keep it up Katz and hope to see you in the U.S. soon.

A week ago, I hadn't even heard of Katzenjammer. Then, last Thursday, I stumbled across Demon Kitty Rag. I was intrigued, so I checked out more from the band. Le Pop is unquestionably the best album I've heard in decades!
Talent, creativity, musical versatility, charisma, and style...
I'd put them in the same catagory as the Beatles.
Yes, they're THAT good.

Katzenjammer's first album: It is show stopper sound supported by incredibly talented and accomplished artists- the music takes you away on a somewhat dark and surrealistic journey.... truly captivating

When I discovered Katzenjammer I was immediately drawn in by the feel good factor of their music. I just love this album, it makes me feel happy every time I listen to it. My favourites on this album are Hey ho on the devil's back, which is a little bit creepy, but brillianly energetic and funny (especially when performed live, unmissable!) and Play my darling play, which is just such a lovely tune :) Also not to miss are A bar in Amsterdam and Demon Kitty Rag! This band consists of four very talented girls, who play lots of different instruments and put so much effort into their music, that it just makes it fun to listen to. I saw them live twice so far and they are just the best live band ever, and I have seen many bands live! A must buy in my opinion!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Vive la Norvège
