I have had my Greenworks trimmer for 5 years. It has worked fantastic until my husband got it wrapped up in something and tore up the guard deck on it. I am currently on the phone with Greenworks to see if a replacement part for that is available. The battery life runs longer than I do. I'm usually worn out before the battery dies. It does a great job and is easy to use. Because of the battery, it's heavier than a corded trimmer, but the ability to move where I want cord-free outweighs the heavy problem. We have a chainsaw and I bought the 300W cordless power inverter to go with the 40 V batteries. We've used the chainsaw for several years and it's able to keep us in firewood for our woodburning stove (primary heat) without a problem. So far, I'm very pleased with all the Greenworks products. If they tell me there is no replacement part for this trimmer, I'll just buy another one. Seems a shame since the motor, batteries and rest of the product are as good as new.

Spool feed sucked up forth star

I like green works. I started with the lawnmower a couple of years back and have been matching lawn and garden since.

I just got my weed trimmer. Like others I was nervous and specifically noted that this trimmer “would” have self feed.

I just got it delivered. Putting it together was super easy and intuitive. One thing I noticed when putting on the handle was how it felt different from my old one as I held it. At first I thought I’d done something wrong. Noope! The design is such that it rests on the back of your forearm and distributes weight there rather than hanging of your arms and back at the mercy of gravity. Very nice. The handle let’s you guide the machine while being levered into position. I can essentially run the weed eater one handed.

So easy to put together and ergonomically designed. Nice!

I of course needed to try it out before my review. I do not have a nice lawn. It’s a yard with all sorts of trees, black berry, and other nature stuff happening all the time. I’m hoping this machine will have some decent juice and take care of some business. It does and it did. It quickly dispatched the difficult spots.

Happy so far, I focused on the spool feed feature. I read in advance this might be an issue. Due to some hard conditions the line wore out pretty fast. I read feathering to full stopping to get the line out. It wasn’t working. Or, I guess, I thought it wasn’t working. I came in frustrated knowing keeping the trimmer or sending it back was…on the line. I read the reviews again specifically on line feed. Went back to try it again. I could hear and see the line was being fed out. So it does work.

Work. It does work…but it’s a crummy spool feed design. I can deal, but anytime you have a whole thread being created to tutor others… you might have a problem.

Would I buy again? I like green works and it’s compatible with my battery stash. The machine functions as designed. The ease of use due to the back of arm lever design is a huge plus. With my old trimmer, I was constantly switching arms as it would get heavy. The adjustment of the cutter head is easy. The spool feeder…works annoyingly so. I probably would buy again for what’s good about it. Nothings perfect and I can deal with it.

I cannot say enough good things about this trimmer. I have lived alone for 16 years, and I have 1 acre of property to take care of. Every trimmer I have used before was so frustrating. I had to yank the cord so hard, prime the engine, always have gas (the correct mix) on hand, and always have the individual cords ready. Every trimmer I used to own ate through their cords, and it was so frustrating to have to carry the cords in my pocket. Having to stop and add the cords every time one broke was so inconvenient. The other trimmers were so heavy! My last trimmer I actually had to wear heavy snow gloves because it vibrated so much that it hurt my hand so much! Enter this trimmer! I knew when I was shopping for a trimmer what I wanted and what I didn't. This trimmer is TRULY incredible. I love the fact that it does not require any gas or oil. I never have to run to the store just to pick up the cords or the oil mix. I absolutely love the fact that I just have to charge the battery, and it starts up by a press of a button. With my old trimmer, I had to lie the thing on its side, step on it a certain way and yank the cord as hard as I could over and over just to get the thing to start. This is so great also because it has an advancing feature when the cord is cut. You don't have to smack it on the ground like other trimmers just to get the cord to advance. It does it automatically! It is so light weight, so someone like me with not a lot of upper body strength can easily carry it and lift it up and down to aim it correctly. I went the ENTIRE summer without having to replace the spool of cord--making doing the job of trimming/edging so much faster. In fact, yesterday was my first time edging my back yard for spring, and the cord ran out. It was so easy to replace. You just depress the button and slide out the old spool. I thought I'd have to get out the manual to see how to do it, but it was only 2 steps. I cannot say enough good things about this trimmer. I love that the head adjusts into an edger and then you can just move to back to the other position. When I purchased it, it was about 20-25$ more than the regular trimmers I had bought from Home Depot, but I thought it might be worth it because it is environmentally more friendly as it will produce no exhaust and not need oil. Let me tell you that those extra 20$ will purchase you a FANTASTIC product. I am so glad I bought it! I remember years ago I had an electric trimmer that didn't have a lot of power behind it, and the battery died fast. I couldn't even do my entire front yard before it died on me, so getting the back yard done on the same day was out of the question. Not the case with this trimmer! The battery does my entire front and back yard on one charge. I will say that it doesn't go past that though. I remember last year, the total of my front and back yard was its limit. It also has the same (or better) power than my gas trimmer, but without all of the hassle. If you are on the fence with this product, let me assure you--it is WELL worth the money!

El equipo funciona muy bien. La pila tiene muy buena duración incluso más de lo que menciona la descripción. No me he quedado sin pila y además, carga rápido. Soy nueva con este tipo de equipos y aún no sé si era mejor el de doble hilo. La he usado como 6 veces para hierba fina y sacate. No corta maleza (hierba más gruesa) pues se acaba muy rápido el hilo y se atora.

I am happy with it but since it is my second one after 5 years of use,here is my desapointment.
The only down side is i cannot use my other batteries 40 volts on it because the compagnie added a little plastic protector between the batterie contactor making the use of my previous batteries not to be usable?
I had to use my old trimmer upper part connectedwith the new trimmer to be able to use my batteries so living the new upper part aside.
