Product Description

In This War Of Mine you do not play as an elite soldier, rather a group of civilians trying to survive in a besieged city; struggling with lack of food, medicine and constant danger from snipers and hostile scavengers. The game provides an experience of war seen from an entirely new angle. The pace of This War of Mine is imposed by the day and night cycle. During the day snipers outside stop you from leaving your refuge, so you need to focus on maintaining your hideout: crafting, trading and taking care of your survivors. At night, take one of your civilians on a mission to scavenge through a set of unique locations for items that will help you stay alive. Make life-and-death decisions driven by your conscience. Try to protect everybody from your shelter or sacrifice some of them for longer-term survival. During war, there are no good or bad decisions; there is only survival. The sooner you realize that, the better.

I love this game but it's not for everyone. It's a very suspenseful resource management game. It is a very difficult and time consuming game. The cool part is that you can customize the seasons and the characters you play with. It takes place in an area that has been torn part by the war and people are trying to survive by searching for food and medical supplies all while keeping up morale. I like this game better on the switch because it's a good, "play anywhere" game.

I hate games that don’t let you do anything, that don’t explain how to do anything, that give you a lame, frustrating premise with no reason to like the one character you are able to control. Commands are not intuitive, and you the game punishes you for making mistakes. Literally everything makes your character tired and depressed, which in turn makes you tired and depressed as a player. Simple actions like digging through rubble take minutes of your time, and you as a player just sit and watch a circle load above your incompetent character. When you finally get a chance to leave the starting area, people can shoot at you from off screen (you have no weapon btw) and if you die, wait another 2 minutes to load the next day. Before you know what’s happening or why you should care, you’ll have spent hours of your life you can never get back. There are excellent survival games out there with more interesting characters and gameplay. Stay away from this one.

If you’re like me and wanted ALL the expansions for This War of Mine, including the workshop for making your own stories, this does not include it.
It’s extremely complicated and difficult to play on the switch as opposed to the computer or an iPad. Players used to the controls may not have as hard a time, but I wouldn’t be surprised if even hard core players were frustrated.

That said, this is an amazing indie game that is definitely worth playing, just maybe not on a switch.

PC版はセールで500円ぐらいで買えてそっちをやっていましたが、持ち運びできるという事でスイッチ版も買いました。
PC版と違い、操作はキャラクター一人一人を操る事になります。
なので、PC版で出来たこのキャラはこれをして、その間にこっちのキャラはこれをして、みたいな事は難しいです。
１日目の拠点探索の時はPCの方がスムーズに同時探索できます。
まあでも生活がある程度安定すると、基本的に操作する人数が減ると思うのでそこまでストレスでは無いです。
問題はアクションをする時に、アイコンが近くにあると、十字キーで選択する必要がある所です。
それこそ夜の探索に出かけた時に、扉の開けるアイコンと鍵穴を覗くアイコンは毎回隣同士なので、毎回十字キーで選択する必要があります。
この辺りは、戦闘中に咄嗟にハイドポイントに隠れたい時とかも場合によって近くに別のアクションアイコンがあると誤操作の元なので、思ったようにいかずにサバイバーが死ぬなんてこともあるかと思います。
また、PC版ではワンクリックで歩く、ダブルクリックで走るという操作ですが、スイッチ版はスティックの倒し具合で歩きと走りに変わります。
上下階の行き来もスティックを上や下に倒して行います。
これが意外と気を使うし、慣れてないせいか誤操作しやすい。
ある意味難易度上がって私は楽しいですが、誤操作で愛着のあるサバイバーが死んでしまったらリセット間違いなしです。
持ち運んでどこでも出来るのはとてもよく、一人一人操作するのも面白いですが、もう少し直感的な操作ができたらいいなあと思います。
ある意味PC版と棲み分けしっかりされてるなと感じました。
