LIGHTSHINE is Jesse Colin Young's best solo album ever. It's easily the equal of anything the Eagles were putting out at the time, and is a total break from the Youngbloods 60s sound and style. Unlike the earlier band's work, which in some ways seemed tied to its time, this album has a timeless quality to it drawing on such influences as Poco, the Eagles, Eric Clapton, and the Allman Brothers Band. Get this album either on CD or as a download.

I love the music. Still have my LP of this album. The sound quality is excellent. However, QC is lacking because the song titles on the actual tracks did not match what is actually played. Had to copy to hard drive, edit titles, edit titles in properties, burn new copy to synch the titles with the songs.

I bought this for the song Gray Day. I still remember back in the 70s in Michigan hearing that for the first time on a rainy gray day tooling down the freeway headed for Lake Michigan. I was mesmerized. It has been a lot of water under the bridge since then so I had to hear it again and picked it up. It holds up quite well and the other songs on this CD are pretty good too. Never was a huge fan of JCY but I like this one.
