For a while, I've been wanting to own a PlayStation 2 just so I can go back and relive the nostalgia with the games I've played growing up, and when I finally got it I was absolutely filled with joy to have the console in my hands for the first time in nearly a decade.

As far as the console itself went, it looked to be in really good shape. I did have to disassemble the console since it looked very dirty on the inside, but after spending some time cleaning it up it has worked wonders so far. The controller works fine, just the D-Pad can be a bit unresponsive to where I have to press down pretty hard on the right one specifically if I'm trying to tweak some settings in-game or on the system in general. Good thing I ordered a extra controller as a backup.

So far, so good when it comes to the PS2. Hasn't given me any problems, especially since I had to disassemble it to give it a good cleaning. Overall, I'm impressed.

I love the PS2. It has games that give me childhood nostalgia (talking about you Kingdom Hearts). When my first PS2 broke down I was devastated and at the time (early 2017) I thought there would be no more PS2's or people would sell them for so much money that I wouldn't be able to live in my place without running into rent problems. Then comes Amazon, I go online search up some PS2's and I find one for a reasonably good price and without hesitation I order it. I wait a few days and then I get a package in the mail but something looked off. There was a huge tear in the packaging and I got very scared. I carefully opened up the package and slid out the PS2 and found out that there was a HUGE crack that led to exposure of the hardware inside the PS2. I was LIVID, firstly I just got the damn thing in the mail and its ALREADY damaged when there was no indication on the Amazon post saying it was damaged. I went and messaged the sellers and told them the situation and they didn't care since they had already got my money for it. The PS2 itself works alright, but with that crack and how the sellers did nothing to help me with what happened, I give this rating a 1 star and if I could I would make it a 0 star rating.

I purchased the unit in March. I had tested it on the white disc games I had and it was fine, but when I bought a blue disc game it didn't play. Becausee they have a one year warranty they replaced the unit immediately even though I was past the return window. Because these units are old getting a new one is next to impossible and there is always a risk with buying. The year warranty reduces the risk. I would highly recommend Lindsay Supply, they were great to deal with.

The fact that it works on my TV is good.. But the catch... is that you may have to replace the laser inside as the PS2 will have trouble reading game disc's. And if you want the time and date to work, you may have to replace the battery inside too. All the secondhand PS2 will most likely have problems. But it's cheaper to replace parts yourself, then to pay someone to do it for you, as buying another PS2 will be more costly. Otherwise, I don't regret buying the PS2, I really wanted to play old Kingdom Hearts on it and the original Final Fantasy 7 on it.
