I was pretty surprised with all the different applications there are for the pen and paper, that there weren't any that I found to be very easy or fun to use. I still can't figure out how to use the handwriting to text feature. I mean it's not very easy to save your work once you convert it. Say you write your notes in a checklist sort of way where you have several inches in-between the words like this for example

It won't save it that way. It'll all be ran together when you go into the app to upload your work. Very annoying when editing because there's no way to edit and save for later either. At least I haven't figured it out. The note book is kinda cool but a tad smaller than I'dike it to be. The pen itself was very poorly designed. Or it's just not meant for females or anyone with smaller hands. It's odd shape is not very easy to hold st all. I do love the whole concept and I'm trying to adapt to it, from the pen the notebook to the app. I just want to love it so bad because I've been dreaming of the concept for years before it actually came out. I hope someone improves it the way I'd imagined it to be. My Rocketbook for now is taking center stage. Please improve the pen shape!! And the available apps!

I had the opportunity to see this in use at a Moleskine store and was excited to the possibilities. My handwriting is terrible do to the complications of Parkinson’s. Long story short. I ordered from Amazon or rather through Amazon sold by Moleskine. First month worked well. Product did a fairly good job translating my handwriting, well enough that I could live with it. I used this as a journal. After the first month the Bluetooth worked intermittently. Phone, App and pen are all up to date. Pen stops working. Shoot email to Moleskine and since I bought it from Amazon I had to go back to Amazon for support. Well now that time frame is up. The rep at Moleskine made mention that the pen I have was an outdated model (2018). I purchased in November. I get Amazon on a chat. I will say that Amazon tired working it out. They wanted to charge me $21 restocking fee for a non working item that needed to be complete (all parts ). I stated that the journal is private and that I would not be returning it and asked why I would pay to restock something that is not working. The representative could not understand that I just needed to pen.

There are couple misinformation on the other reviews I like to clear up.
1. The pen is neo smartpen with Moleskine branding on the pen, it still works with the Neo Smartpen notebooks.
2. You don't have to buy exclusively moleskine smart notebook. You can buy the one from Neo. N professional mini has 200 pages with 80g/sq m paper, Moleskin has 176 with 100g/sq m paper. Moleskine does cost more but see #3
3. Smartpen company do want to make money off selling notebooks and special paper, but you can now print your own! Go to neosmartpen.com, look for the Ncode PDF at the bottom, there are 13 different types of format you can print with your own printer and everything still works. The only extra step is now you have to also download the app from Neo, which is really the same app.

If you just want to capture what you've wrote and don't want to pay for notebook, printing your own Ncode sheets is pretty awesome. Remember to print actual size, any resizing or shrinking to margin will make the pen less likely to capture everything.

Going back to this moleskine smart writing set. It works pretty well. Not 100% of everything is captured, I say pretty close to 95%. Occasionally missing a stroke in a letter, that flaw doesn't make this pen useless, it's just not perfect. So it's 4 stars. I'm pretty happy with this product.

After using it for a week, sometimes the pen fails to pick up anything, like less than 30%. I had to restart the pen, re-insert the ink, restart the app, then it goes back to the normal capture rate which is still not 100%. For that reason, revising to 3 star. It's great when it works. Works most of the time, but when it doesn't, you need waste a page writing "test, test, test"...until you restart the right thing for it to work again.

I have both versions of this pen. The micro usb charge one is as good as their proprietary charging one and is polished. I can see it getting scratched more easily. Both are easy to turn on so when using with a pen storage strap- mileage (battery) may vary. Both are however, accurate and moleskins products are available in smart format in a good selection. I’ve loved using mine both from a novelty interest and a practical purpose. App is 4/5. Pens are 5/5.

Consegna Amazon perfetta, non ci si aspetta meno. Il kit arriva in una bella confezione. Il paper tablet è come descritto e della solita elevata qualità Moleskine. Si deve scaricare la relativa app per poter usare il kit.
La penna si impugna facilmente, anche con il vincolo di tenerla in posizione opportuna perchè la microcamera icorporata legga quanto si scrive. È da qualche giorno che la uso ed in diverse condizioni di luminosità; nessun problema. Utilizzo off-line e successiva sincronizzazione sempre ok. Utilizzo in tempo reale, sempre ok. Bisogna essere solo attenti ad attivare la penna, se spenta (si attiva automaticamente cominciando a scrivere o con l’apposito bottone in alto), altrimenti c’è un ovvio ritardo per l’attivazione di qualche decimo di secondo e si perde qualche lettera. Il resto delle funzioni via app sono veramente intuitive ed utili, ad es per condividere appunti (puoi mandare un pdf via email dei tuoi scritti).
Ci sarebbe ancora tanto da aggiungere, direi fantastica per chi ama ancora prendere appunti a mano, ma ama anche la tecnologia ed i vantaggi di questa, il kit è un gran connubio. Secondo me è fantastica per disegnatori o anche per chi ama disegnare a mano libera, dall’app puoi cambiare colore e spessore del tratto. Il refill tipo D1, si trova normalmente in commercio.
