Deluxe edition includes a bonus 6 acoustic songs and DVD. Young As The Morning Old As The Sea is the eighth studio album from Mike Rosenberg, the Brighton-born singer/songwriter better known as Passenger. A prolific achievement for an artist who only just turned 30 last year. Following up 2014's Whispers which debuted at #12 on the Billboard Top 200, the album was recorded at a combination of Roundhead Studios in Auckland, a studio lovingly built from scratch by Neil Finn and back at Linear studios in Sydney. The album sees Chris Vallejo and Mike teaming up to co-produce with the notable exception that this time the record was created in the room with an incredible band of musicians. Ben Edgar (guitar), Rob Clader (bass), Peter Marin (drums) Jon Solo (keyboards) all gave their exceptional voices to a totally different recording process.

This album is amazing. The music is soft and sweet. With every song there's a feeling and the lyrics are beautiful. If you like Passenger, Mike won't let you down on this one. The album is different, you can see that Mike has grown, but he's still Mike and those characteristics that we love about him are still there. 10 songs that will make your heart flutter. And the little book is beautifully made, with photos of dreamlike places. The documentary is very interesting, Mike, the band and the producer talk about the album making, their feelings and the inspirations for this album. Plus, you get acoustic versions of 6/10 album songs and the video of the recording. It is totally worth it. I love that in his 3 last albums, Mike has payed attention to the album art. That's really important to me.

With the exception of a few really upbeat songs, I found this cd to be very melancholy. However, having said that, I loved every song. There isn't even one song that I skip when listening to it. As I have said in past reviews he is an old soul and his lyrics convey such emotion and insight. He knows how to put the words he writes to melody so well. Another great offering from Mike. Just wish he would get more, or any, airplay so his music could be brought to a larger audience.

Beautiful lyrics and melody throughout the whole album. You can, of course, check the songs beforehand on Passenger's youtube channel. Good vinyl quality, individual packing sleeves are made of glossy heavyweight paper and the vinyls are pretty difficult to get out of them, which I admit is annoying, but I won't rate it lower than 5 stars due to this. Sleeves should have been better cushioned nonetheless, as this is supposed to be the deluxe LP version. Rating is for the music :)
