I've used similar Speck cases since I got an iPhone 5 and have appreciated the level of protection they give and the sure grip they provide.
Got this graphite gray case for a new iPhone XR that, without the Speck, is as slippery as a fish. With the Speck, it's easy to hold comfortably no matter what my situation is. Not glam, but blends in well with business or sports attire. Easy to pop the phone in and out if you need to, easy to clean, durable.
An ER doctor examining me last year saw the Speck I had on my previous phone and said he had the same case - was the only one he'd had so far that kept him from dropping his phone while he rushed around and, he said, it looks "serious." Yep.
Order was filled very quickly despite the XR being new on the market when I got it last month.
Edit: So maybe you're asking, "But does it keep your phone from breaking?" Well, none of the phones I've had in these Speck cases have broken, so there's the anecdata point. But then I haven't dropped one down a stairwell, just knocked them off the bedside table or fumbled them from about waist-height. No damage ever. That could be just good luck. But the thing about the Speck cases is that I haven't dropped the phones much at all because when I'm digging one out of my bag or walking around with one, it's easy to hang on to.

Grippy, looks and feels good in your hand
Got this in the gray with blue design for iPhone XR. Feels good in my hand. This case replaced the previous one that was 7 years old. My husband tends to pull his phone from his cargo short pocket by the very edge of the phone, and so the case got a little worn in that area. After 7 years, it was time for a new one. Like this brand, and the color choices are nice. Would definitely recommend. Super fast shipping too.
