The built-in WiFi bridge adds out-of-home control for your lighting and devices and voice control when paired with a voice assistant. The plug also enables scheduling and scene setting to traditional bulbs and devices. The Smart Plug adds smart functionality to fixtures where smart bulbs won't fit or match the look of the fixture. Pair the Smart Plug with Cync or C by GE Smart Bulbs in other fixtures and Cync Smart Switches to control all your lights together. Use the Smart Plug with other devices like curling irons, fans and electronic devices to turn them on or off remotely or schedule them to operate around your routine. The Smart Plug connects directly with Google Home and Amazon Alexa devices (sold separately) - no hub required. Simply plug into a standard wall socket and you're ready to go.

Unfortunately I have run out of patience. I had a Cync hub, the app says i can now only use light bulbs and light switches. I was having a lot of trouble keeping the hub connected to the WiFi. Which is why I wanted the no-hub plug. But now I can't use the plug and the hub at the same time!?!?!So, i uninstalled the hub.Now I go to set up my plug.App says to be within 40ft. That's okay I'm within 15 ft.App failed to connect to WiFi.Move within 8ftApp connects to WiFiPlug turns off during "Adding to your home"App fails to add plug to homeApp tells me to factory reset plug and try againI tried 4 times. It never ever connected.I missed my return windowSo i decided to try it againSame issue.Contacted support.Get message saying they will reach out to me.No one ever reached out to me.Found chat help within the app.Get message saying someone will reach out to me.Now I have no hub for cync light bulbs because it won't reconnectAnd no plugs 'cause the plugs won't connect.This is the most garbage product I have ever failed to use. I should've known better, but hey at least it was worth the try, right.... No, no it wasn't.

As far as power management goes the switching hardware is pretty solid.

If you are the type that feels home automation is acceptable to include a 3rd party such as Google Assistant or Alexa than you probably don't care about any of the underlying how things work or much else this review contains and this product is probably a perfect fit for you.

If you feel home automation devices shouldn't be dependent on a 3rd party outside your home network then stay away from this product! It doesn't work well with Home Assistant and whatever solution one puts together to make it work is a cobbled one at best that usually is unreliable which pretty much burns out its usefulness within days of realizing this.

The security of this device is horrible. Its exposed quiet well out on Github. Just search for unixpickle/cbyge and read up on the reverse engineering commentary on how insecure it is. Some college research classes on how not to make software to support a product can probably make use of this device since its fairly cheap and can probably take a beating and keep on ticking.

I have one of these devices as an experiment. As soon as products that support Matter are available on the market I will be slowly switching away. Until then I'll stick with Z-Wave.
