This dog wheelchair has given our 15 year old Shih Tzu more energy and a perk we haven't seen in her for a while now. Ever since she had surgery on her neck after her back legs stopped working, she has been fairly unstable and has had a hard time regaining the strength in her legs that she once had. We noticed that she stopped wanting to walk and that is when we started looking for alternatives to a second surgery due to her age and the cost. The doctor said that dogs can live a happy life with the use of a wheelchair, so we started researching the different kinds. There is a brand that is recommended by many vets, but it is at least double the price of this one, so we went ahead and purchased this one (in Very Good Condition for around $87) and hoped it would do the trick.
It was slow going at first and our dog just stood there for a long time not understanding what to do and now knowing what was attached to her. We read online that one good way to have them start walking is to place treats in your hand and hold it just far enough away from their nose that they have to take a step to get it. It worked! She started slowly with a step at a time and then we made her take two steps, then three and after doing this about 3 times (about 20/30 mins each time), she started walking in it on her own and rest is history.
Today we can sense that she feels the freedom that she once had by being able to walk around the house feeling stable and can explore. Quality of life is better, her appetite went up and she seems more vibrant than she was before using her wheels. She seems happier, which is what matters.
Fitting it wasn't that difficult, but it did take about 3 adjustments to find what fit her best and to make sure she was comfortable in it. Looked at pictures online and in the manual of the other dogs to make sure we had done it right.
All in all, a great investment. Well worth the money and finding it for under $100 was a major bargain, especially compared to the other brand that costs close to $200. Recommend it to anyone with a dog that is having trouble getting around on their own.

Thanks to this my Dandy has another chance
My little Chihuahua had a stroke about 10 days ago and lost the use of his right hind leg, he has been very depressed and even stopped eating so I was feeding him with a syringe. I thought we were at the end, I even called the vet and made arrangements to put him down and have him cremated, but he must have heard me because from that day on Dandy did not want to give up..he scooted himself to his pee pee pads or outside, he ate, he drank and now he is mobile again because of this little cart. My friend helped me assemble it because I couldn't get the wheels on tight enough and they kept slipping out of the frame but when we finally got it on Dandy he was off, tail wagging and proud..so happy to see my boy back at it..my only complaint is the front part pokes him a little but I'm planning to add some foam to help with that. Great product and great price.

We ordered the wheel chair to help our rescue (Rockers Rescue-Northwest La) with a special needs kitten. Chris Jingles kitten has a spinal injury. One rear leg had to be removed and one is not functioning properly. We used the wheel chair to strengthen the injured leg a bit so that he could have his surgery. We didn't leave him in it a lot, just enough for him to get the feel of trying to use the injured leg in a more correct position. I feel he has outgrown his wheelchair now, but we may end up ordering another size if it will benefit his therapy again.
I found the wheelchair to be nicely made. Great cost for the quality. We would definitely order again if needed for our rescue. I was worried about it being small enough for a kitten, but it was sized perfect for the one we had. I didn't really find the included belly band useful for a slender kitten in his position, but we would leave it on there just for a little support. I didn't tighten it because I was worried about putting pressure on his sensitive back. Sometimes I would flip the cushion end of the belly band to the top just so that if it slipped near the more sensitive part of his spine it wouldn't push down on his injury. Again, I was too worried to tighten it correctly. Overall- Chris and Rockers Rescue approves.

This wheelchair gave my 12-13 year old small poodle mobility back. With out this she can not walk here back legs still walk some with this but she can not hold her weight up with out it. It brought such joy and tears to see it work. She started using it right away. It was so worth getting. After she passes we will be donating it to another dog in need to bring joy back to it's people. It's very sturdy, easy to clean and good quality

So affordable and a perfect fit for my 7 pound Coconut. It is SO lightweight. She loves zipping around in it. It has improved her life dramatically. I had ordered a larger one, that was heavier, and she was not happy to use it. (I donated that to a rescuer of handicapped dogs.) This tiny, super light weight one is like an extension of her own body.
